Refashionized

Refashionized Training Sessions in Dresden Successfully Completed!

On November 16, 23, and 24, 2024, Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. implemented at KulturCentrale Dresden a series of engaging and informative workshops within the framework of the Refashionized project. These training sessions focused on the history of fashion, sustainable practices, and upcycling fashion techniques. The workshops aimed to empower participants with the knowledge and hands-on experience to create a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.

Highlights of the Training Sessions

Theoretical Sessions
Doreen Siegmund and Maria Francesca Mele facilitated the theoretical sessions providing an insight into the fascinating history of fashion. Participants explored sustainable fashion practices that have evolved over time and how they can be applied to contemporary fashion. The discussions also covered the importance of sustainable production methods and the environmental impact of the fast fashion industry.

Hands-On Patchwork Workshop
In addition to the theoretical knowledge, Viktoria Braun moderated a hands-on patchwork workshop where participants learned the art of upcycling. Using old clothes and fabric scraps, participants created unique, functional bags through patchwork techniques. This practical approach allowed everyone to see how easy and fun it can be to transform used textiles into new, stylish items while promoting sustainable practices.

Celebrating Sustainability Through Fashion
These sessions combined both theoretical and practical elements, offering participants a well-rounded experience in sustainable fashion. They gained valuable insights into how they can make more conscious choices when it comes to clothing consumption, and learned useful techniques for upcycling and repurposing old garments.

The training sessions were a great success, bringing together a community of like-minded individuals who are eager to make a positive impact on the fashion industry and the environment. Participants left feeling inspired and equipped with the tools to integrate sustainability into their personal and professional lives.

A big thank you to all those who joined us for these sessions, and to the expert facilitators who shared their knowledge and skills. Stay tuned for more workshops and events focused on promoting sustainable practices within our community. Together, we can continue to support a greener and more responsible fashion industry.

We look forward to future events where we can continue to explore the exciting world of sustainable fashion and upcycling!
