Refashionized Training Sessions in Larissa Successfully Completed!
On November 21, 22, and 25, 2024 KAINOTOMIA & SIA EE hosted a series of workshops as part of the Refashionized project. These sessions took place at KAINOTOMIA’s facilities and the facilities of BETTINA ABE, a knitting industry, offering participants a unique blend of theoretical insights and hands-on experiences focused on sustainable fashion practices.
Highlights of the Training Sessions
The theoretical sessions introduced participants to the evolution of fashion across eras. Facilitated by Katerina Michale and Eleni Sofia Balafa, the first session familiarized attendees with training materials, such as the PESTEL framework exploring the social, political, and economic factors that influenced fashion trends, enhancing their understanding of how fashion connects to broader societal changes.
In the second session, participants explored the “History of Fashion” booklet, exploring game-changing moments in fashion from the 18th century to the disco era of the 1970s. Activities included thematic video discussions, creating collages, and analyzing iconic figures like Twiggy and David Bowie, helping participants link fashion trends to historical events and cultural shifts.
The final session combined theory with practice through a workshop focusing on the upcycling technique of appliqué that took place in the well-equipped facilities of BETTINA. Participants were guided on how they could transform old textiles into creative designs, by our trainer Agathi Ziaka, who offered tips for effective implementation. This hands-on experience empowered participants to apply sustainable fashion practices in their personal and professional lives.
These sessions successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical skills, equipping participants who have a passion for fashion with comprehensive tools and insights to drive positive change in the fashion industry.
We would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm, dedication, and contributions to the success of the local piloting sessions of the Refashionized project. Your active engagement, creativity, and commitment to learning have been truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing you in future events!
