Refashionized Project Piloting Sessions Completed In Thessaloniki, Greece!
The local piloting was completed successfully by Catwalk within the framework of the Refashionized Project, marking an important milestone in promoting sustainable fashion and raising awareness of fashion’s evolution and its impact on society as well as the effect of political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal factors on fashion. Over four immersive sessions, held on November 29, 30, and December 6, 7, 2024, at the Catwalk Head Office in Panorama and the Youth Center of Thessaloniki (ΧΑΝΘ), participants explored the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and creativity.
These sessions were designed to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills to rethink fashion through the lens of sustainability. By combining historical insights, creative workshops, and hands-on activities, the program provided a platform for participants to learn, collaborate, and innovate.

Session 1: Fashion Through the Decades
Participants explored iconic fashion trends from the 1980s to the 2010s, analyzing the societal, cultural, and technological forces that shaped them. Interactive discussions introduced the PESTEL framework, offering a deeper understanding of how external factors influence fashion evolution.
Session 2: Self-Paced Learning and Creativity
Through self-paced activities, participants created detailed fashion timelines connecting historical events to sustainable practices. They also redesigned iconic garments from past decades, blending creativity with modern sustainability principles.
Session 3: Fast Fashion vs. Ethical Fashion
A vibrant debate on the pros and cons of fast fashion versus ethical fashion highlighted the complexities of the fashion industry. Participants learned practical techniques to evaluate garment quality, including sustainability markers and construction standards.
Session 4: Repurpose Techniques and Showcase
The final session focused on upcycling techniques, where participants transformed old garments into fresh, creative designs. A showcase of their creations celebrated their efforts and marked the conclusion of the sessions with a ceremony awarding certificates of participation.
